• On 1 July 1998, Rowald obtained his high school diploma from Maerlant College in Brielle (South Holland), specialising in Dutch, French, German and English language and literature (in addition to courses in history, civics, economics, law and maths).
• On 1 July 2005, he received his bachelor’s degree in journalism with honours from the Hogeschool van Utrecht (NL).
• On 13 September 2018, he gained his master’s degree in Dutch-French-German translation with distinction from the Catholic University of Louvain, Faculty of Arts.
